Houston Shaner was a Senior Counsel for Better Markets, where he assisted in all aspects of the organization’s work. Mr. Shaner supported the organization’s actions throughout the entire rulemaking process, from filing comment letters on proposed rules to participating in litigation involving challenges to final rules. He also helped prepare in-depth research reports and supports advocacy and public education efforts.

Before joining Better Markets, Mr. Shaner worked extensively on regulatory development, compliance, and litigation at two large national law firms. Earlier in his career, he served as a law clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Mr. Shaner is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and Harvard Law School.
