Robert Jenkins, a Founding Member of the Bank of England’s Financial Policy Committee, Joins Better Markets as Senior Fellow

Better Markets announced that Robert (“Bob”) Jenkins, who served as a founding member on the Bank of England’s Financial Policy Committee until May 2013, has joined the organization as a Senior Fellow.

“Robert Jenkins, after decades of experience on the buy side, the sell side, as an industry representative and as a regulator, is one of the most articulate and forceful advocates for strong, sensible regulation of the financial industry. He spent 16 years as a banker running trading operations, 18 years as a fund manager running asset management organizations, chaired the Investment Management Association of the UK and was a founding member of the Bank of England’s Financial Policy Committee. Bob will be a tremendous asset to Better Markets and we are pleased to welcome him to the organization,” said Dennis Kelleher, President and CEO of Better Markets, a nonprofit organization that promotes the public interest in the financial markets.

“In his capacity as Senior Fellow, Bob will be London-based and focus on the role of investment companies, managers and advisers in the financial industry generally and the regulatory reform debate in particular. He will also serve as an ambassador for Better Markets to international counterparts working on global financial reform issues. With Bob’s reputation, expertise and background, he is ideally suited to help mobilize the investment community to become a major voice for protecting and advancing the interests of investors in the financial markets,” Mr. Kelleher said.

“I am pleased to join an organization that shares my dedication to transparency, accountability and oversight in the financial markets. Strong, properly regulated markets are in everyone’s interests. I look forward to working with the Better Markets’ team advocating for sound banking and financial reform,” said Mr. Jenkins.

Mr. Jenkins will continue a number of his other activities, including as Adjunct Professor, Finance at London Business School, Senior Advisor to CVC Capital Partners and a Governor of the CFA Institute. A summary biography of Mr. Jenkins is attached.
