WASHINGTON, D.C.— Better Markets is pleased to announce that Lisa Gilbert, Co-President of Public Citizen, has joined the Better Markets Board of Directors.

“Lisa has spent her career promoting the public interest and fighting for an economy that serves the American people, creates jobs, and supports small businesses and community banks,” said Dennis Kelleher, Co-Founder, President and CEO of Better Markets. “Her long record of exceptional leadership and advocacy in financial reform and consumer and investor protection will be invaluable in supporting Better Markets’ mission and activities.”

Before becoming Co-President, Gilbert served as Public Citizen’s vice president of legislative affairs, director of Public Citizen’s Congress Watch division, and deputy director of that division. She is a strong advocate of government transparency and integrity, financial reform, civil justice and consumer protection.

Prior to Public Citizen, Gilbert was the democracy advocate for the Public Interest Research Group. She also worked as a campaign director to pass legislation on social justice and environmental issues for organizations such as the Human Rights Campaign, Sierra Club and Environment Washington. She has been named one of D.C.’s top lobbyists by The Hill and an under-40 rising star by Washington Life Magazine for multiple years.
