Politico Pro: Warren to expand progressives' power even outside White House

“Sen. Elizabeth Warren may not be on the Democratic ticket as many liberals had hoped, but when the Massachusetts firebrand takes the stage at the party’s convention tonight, she’ll be more powerful than ever. A Hillary Clinton administration would have to decide right away whether to give Warren a seat at the table for key personnel decisions — or risk the kind of showdown that has sometimes tied President Barack Obama’s hands when seeking to appoint officials that liberals deemed too cozy with big business.”

“No matter where she is, she’s going to be a force to be reckoned with, and nobody on either side of the aisle or either end of Pennsylvania Avenue is going to think otherwise,” said Dennis Kelleher, a Warren ally who serves as president of Wall Street watchdog group Better Markets.
