Consumer Protection Will Again Be The Priority at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau with New Director Rohit Chopra

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Dennis Kelleher, Co-founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of Better Markets, released the following statement regarding the Senate’s confirmation of Rohit Chopra as Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB):

“We applaud the Senate for confirming Rohit Chopra as the new Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).  Mr. Chopra is a deeply experienced, dedicated public servant who will return the CFPB to the gold standard of protecting financial consumers.  Regrettably, this is desperately needed after the Trump administration de facto turned the CFPB into an anti-consumer financial predator protection bureau.  We look forward to working with a revitalized CFPB and putting protecting financial consumers back at the top of the agenda.”
