WASHINGTON, D.C. – After a long and successful banking industry career, Camden Fine has joined Better Markets as a Senior Fellow.
Fine brings decades of invaluable experience in banking and public policy. As the former President and CEO of the Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA), he led the national association for more than 5,000 community banks across the country, advocating on their behalf in Washington, D.C. During his tenure, Fine became widely recognized as one of the most influential and thoughtful figures in the financial services industry.
“Community banks are the lifeblood of communities across America, and community bankers are critical to vibrant, growing economies that create businesses, jobs, and rising living standards on Main Street. No one knows that better than Cam, who has an extensive background in community banking, along with deep experience in policy development and regulation. He will be a huge asset to Better Markets as it continues to fight for an economy that works for Main Street Americans and a banking system that helps them achieve their dreams,” said Dennis Kelleher, Co-Founder, President and CEO of Better Markets.
“I am honored to join Better Markets, an organization I have long admired for its commitment to promoting policies that help Main Street Americans and supporting banks that help them achieve their financial goals while promoting a more stable and equitable financial system,” said Fine. “I look forward to working with the team to ensure that the voice of community banks is heard as we continue to focus on a banking and financial system that supports the real productive economy.”
Prior to his leadership role at ICBA, Fine chartered and organized Midwest Independent Bank in Jefferson City, MO, where he served as president and CEO for two decades. Additionally, he was the owner of MainStreet Bank in Ashland, MO. Fine’s career also includes his service as Missouri’s State Director of Taxation and Collection, a position he was appointed to by former Governor Christopher “Kit” Bond.
A native of Missouri, Fine holds a B.A. in History and English from the University of Missouri-Columbia and has completed post-graduate work in public administration. He is also a graduate “With Distinction” from the prestigious ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking.
