Better Markets’ CEO Dennis Kelleher Named to Washingtonian’s 500 Most Influential List

WASHINGTON, D.C.— For the fourth year in a row, Washingtonian Magazine has selected Dennis Kelleher, Co-Founder, President and CEO of Better Markets, as one of the Most Influential People in Washington. Washingtonian calls it a “list of the experts and advocates, outside the government, who are playing big roles in Washington’s policy debates.”

“Hardworking Main Street Americans need a fearless fighter who is expert in the ways of Washington and working tirelessly to protect, promote, and prioritize their financial and economic interests, especially their jobs, homes, savings, investments, standard of living, and dreams for the future,” said Anton Becker, Communications Director at Better Markets. “Under Dennis’ leadership, Better Markets is indeed that fighter for Main Street. There are simply too few organizations and leaders advocating for the public interest and not special interests, and we are proud to have Dennis fighting for the financial well-being of all Americans.”

Kelleher is one of the only public interest nonprofit leaders represented in the Banking & Finance category, and his recognition shows Better Markets’ impact as a counterweight to the financial industry in Washington, despite the hundreds of millions of dollars backing the financial lobby. Since Better Markets’ founding in 2010, Kelleher has been a tireless advocate for the public interest and Main Street Americans.

Washingtonian notes, “Kelleher counts among his policy accomplishments preventing cryptocurrency from infiltrating the traditional financial market” which includes speaking out against the SEC’s approval of Bitcoin ETPs, advocating for tougher punishments for lawbreaking in the crypto space, and shining the light on crypto dark money donations in an election year. Kelleher has also been busy debunking myths in Wall Street’s massive lobbying and propaganda campaign against higher capital requirements, taking on a dangerous proposal to allow gambling on U.S. elections and sounding the alarm about the looming climate crisis hidden being the banking crisis.
