Despite a lacking of formal budget documents, The House Appropriations Subcommittee is conducting a series of informational hearings on the expenditures and operations of various federal agencies. Today’s hearing featured the SEC.
The SEC is without a Chair at this time so the Subcommittee is taking the unusual position of hearing from the newly appointed SEC Inspector General, Mr. Carl Hoecker. Panel Chairman Crenshaw and ranking member Serrano asked questions as to how Mr. Hoecher intended to use the funding his agency had requested for the IG office. The minority, however, did ask the Chair to reschedule the SEC for a funding hearing once a new Chair had been confirmation and sworn into office,
