June 20, 2012 – House Financial Services Capital Markets Subcommittee hearing entitled "Market Structure: Ensuring Orderly, Efficient, Innovative and Competitive Markets for Issuers and Investors."

Subcommittee Chairman Garrett assembled two large panels of industry participants to hear how the system could be improved and how might the recently enacted JOBS Act could improve capital formation.

Only a few Members of the Subcommittee were able to attend so they was now as much give and take regarding key issues but significant concerns were raised by the panelists. Major themes included the economic downturn, the May 2010 Flash Crash and the recent problems in the IPO market, specifically with the Facebook offering, were cited as issued that have seriously eroded consumer confidence.
