Mark Wetjen was subjected to fairly routine questions about his nominated position to be a member of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Wetjen was introduced to the Committee by Majority Leader Harry Reid, who said he regarded Mark as a son. Wetjen had long served as a senior staff member to Leader Reid, previously to serving as a lawyer in Nevada and California.
The committee did not vote on the nomination at the meeting. But it reconvened on August 2, and voted to recommend the nomination to the full Senate.
