Fact Sheet: The CFTC’s Proposed Position Limits Regulations Would Not Adequately Curb Excessive Speculation

The CFTC has proposed new limits for speculative trading in commodty markets. For nearly 10 years we have called on the CFTC to implement meaningful position limits, and while this proposal represents some progress towards that goal it suffers from significant legal and policy deficiencies that must be remedied before finalization.
