After ten years of rulemaking, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has scheduled a public meeting (Oct. 15, 2020) to consider a final speculative position limits framework for derivatives on certain physical commodities. From all indications, the forthcoming final rulemaking likely will codify the CFTC’s position limits framework largely as proposed in early 2020.
