Frontline broadcasted its documentary “Money, Power and Wall Street” on April 24 and May 1. Better Markets President and CEO Dennis Kelleher appeared in the documentary (including the excerpt above) explaining about the importance of financial reform and Wall Street’s continued influence in policymaking circles. The documentary examined the actions by an unregulated banking sector that set the stage for the 2008 financial crisis, such as the invention of the credit-default swap that led Wall Street to make wild bets in the housing market. It also covered the steps taken by policymakers during the crisis and the actions by the Obama administration in its aftermath, including the fierce debate between aides on whether struggling banks should have been nationalized.
