“An 80-year-old banking law has done the impossible: united Republicans and Democrats.
“Donald Trump Republicans and Bernie Sanders Democrats have inserted into their party platforms a call to readopt the Glass-Steagall Act, which limits big banks. The move comes after Hillary Clinton explicitly rejected the idea, and Republicans called for repealing the Dodd-Frank Act, which imposed tougher restrictions on banking after the Great Recession.”
“It’s potentially great news for financial reform and protecting taxpayers, as long as it’s not another Republican Trojan Horse that looks good, but concealed underneath are killer loopholes and big bank giveaways,” he told The Hill.
