WASHINGTON, D.C.— Doug Walker has joined Better Markets as its Director of Communications. Better Markets is a Washington, D.C.-based independent, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that promotes the economic and financial security, opportunity and prosperity of Main Street families, workers, businesses and community banks. Doug will be responsible for the entire range of communications activities of the organization and will work directly with Dennis Kelleher, Co-founder, President and CEO.
“I am pleased to welcome Doug to the Better Markets team,” said Kelleher. “As a longtime advocacy communications executive, his extensive experience will help Better Markets engage and inform the public on economic, financial and financial reform issues, as well as expand our reach to media, policymakers, opinion leaders, and other influencers.”
“I am delighted to join Better Markets as it moves into its second decade of fighting for Main Street’s financial consumers and investors while being a counterweight to Wall Street’s too-big-to-fail megabanks,” said Walker. “I look forward to working with media and allies throughout the advocacy community in changing the rules and regulations to benefit all Americans, not just the special interests.”
A veteran Washington operative, Doug brings over 20 years of communications, public relations, and marketing experience in the public sector, Higher Education, and the nonprofit/NGO space. He managed communications and government relations teams at the National Education Association for over a dozen years and has led communications operations at three federal agencies.
