What We Do

June 20, 2013

June 18,2013 – House Financial Services Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee hearing entitled "CFPB Budget Review."

The Committee Staff Memo prepared for the hearing promised a session where the Congressional Panel would examine the purpose and propriety of past and planned obligations and expenditures on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau for fiscal years 2011-14. The Subcommittee promised to determine if the “absence of CFPB accountability to Congress has an impact on such obligations and expenditures.”

The CFO of the CFPB represented the Bureau said this would be the 36th time the staff has testified before Congress since the agency began in 2011.
